@wilreid

Wil Reid, better known to friends as Wilbur, is that perfect mix of playful kid energy and full-power surf style. When filmmaker Kevin Jansen dropped My Mom Found My Fireworks back in 2014, Wil was only 15. The short shows him clowning around off the board—like joking with parmesan at lunch—but once he hit the water, he surfed with the flow and confidence of someone way beyond his years. “He’s just a kid, after all. But he surfs like a man.” Wil’s been featured in a bunch of unique edits. Secret Goldfish (2016) was a standout—a Robots in Space film with Holden Caulfield vibes, mixing teenage freedom with stylish surf. Fast forward, his 2022 short Story Time and Tubes With Wil Reid shows him sliding through barrels, scored to the Ramones’ “I Don’t Want to Grow Up”—pretty much his vibe in a nutshell. What makes Wilbur special is the way his surfing feels unplanned—like he’s making it up as he goes, but everything just clicks. Fun, raw, and sometimes a little reckless, his surfing is described as “fun and scary at the same time.”

@shaneborland

Shane Borland is the kind of laid-back legend who shreds both surf and skate as if it’s no big deal. Born in Topanga Canyon but raised more by Malibu breaks and Venice ramps, he’s the dude who travels with friends, films epic surf-skate edits, and keeps it “just enough to get by” while staying creative and authentic.

Shane-O blends skate culture’s community spirit with free-spirited surf flow—whether he’s riding waves or hitting tranny and rail setups at the park. He’s popped up in standout edits like Crossed Roads and Primo, working with Chapter 11 and Hunter Martinez to create surf-skate magic that is as effortless as it is jaw-dropping.

Inspired early on by the legendary Shane Cross, Shane Borland still skates, still surfs, and still inspires—with a style that says: “I’m doing my thing, and if you’re into that, come ride along.”

@ford_archbold

Ford Archbold is basically surfing royalty with a splash of creative rebellion. His dad, Matt Archbold, was a legend known for bringing speed and style to the waves — and he passed that vibe straight to Ford. Ford made his mark early on with the 3 Slobs crew — a rad blog alongside Kyle Kennelly and Andrew Doheny that captured Newport surf life, music, and pure mischief. It was basically the second coolest surf blog of the era, right after Marine Layer. Then, because why not, he shifted gears and jammed in bands with buddy Alex Knost, most notably Tomorrow’s Tulips. He also popped up in all the Metal Neck surf videos — legit a go-to name when people list surfing’s most creative characters. These days, Ford is cooking on another level with Spun Spirit, his clothing line that brings together all his creative “superpowers.” Think surf style, art, and slacker chic all rolled into wearable form. It’s seriously his “greatest endeavor yet,” according to the crew at Inherent Bummer. Beyond surfing and designing, Ford’s also continued exploring art. In a 2024 interview with Wasted Talent, he talked about how screen-printing tees became a creative outlet. He’s all about making things happen with his own hands, sometimes “just going with it” rather than over-planning. Plus, he still paints, surfs (when the waves and his mood align), and jams out on guitar — especially when he’s baked (“Weed and guitar is my favourite mixer,” he says). Ford Archbold is the ultimate free-spirited creative — surfer, musician, artist, designer, all rolled into a laid-back, style-forward package. If “doing your own thing” was a person, that’d be Ford.
